I was just watching this video
How to coil your guitar cables. Then I watched this one.



The winding scheme seems to counter torsion of the cable.



This must for sure have some mathematical name, or? Any topologist, or geometer?



PS My hope is I can use this information to top a future discussion by exclaiming something like „This is a Poincaré-Yang winding, and it is used to describe phononitons in M-brane theory!“ or such.
