De Boston Stump


Bolstoen (Engels: Boston) is n kleine havenstad en n distrikt in t Engelse graafschap Lincolnshire. t Distrikt had in 2011 oengeveer 64.637 inwoeners, en het n oppervlakte van 361,5 km².


De stad leit an de rivier de Witham, zo'n zes kilometer vanof de plek waor de Witham in t estuarium The Wash stroomt. De plaots leit in t vlakke, moerasachtige en butengebied The Fens. t Meest opvallende gebouw van Bolstoen is de St Botolph's-kark (The Stump), ebouwd van 1309 tot 1460; t is de grootste parish-kark in Engeland mit een van de hoogste torens van t land.


Bolstoen is waorschienlik esticht in de elfde eeuw, hoewel 'Bolstoen' niet in t Domesday Book van 1086 vermeld staot, as deel van t toe belangriekere Skirbeck. De stad gaf zien naam an oender meer de Amerikaanse stad Boston.
